Is the gate real security?

It is a family privacy latch, not bank-grade protection. The book’s text is genuinely encrypted, and anyone your family gives the two keys to can open it. That is the point.

How long does the private link last?

Your link stays live as long as this service exists, and the keepsake file you download is yours forever, with no lock and no expiry. The file is the heirloom; the link is a convenience.

Can I fix a typo later?

Yes. Your email contains an edit link; change anything and the book is remade at the same private address. Edits are free within reason (twenty remakes; write to us if you truly need more).

Does my family enter the keys every time?

Only the first time on each device; after that the device remembers, and every visit renews the memory. One caveat: opening the book inside an email or chat app’s built-in mini browser may not stick, because those forget everything when closed. Open it in your real browser (Safari, Chrome) and it remembers.

What if we forget our keys?

We never store your keys, so we cannot recover them. We can regenerate your book with new keys through your edit link. And the keepsake file you downloaded carries no lock of ours at all, so it opens no matter what becomes of the keys: the gate guards the private link, not the file already in your hands.

If we write a name in the Family Record on one phone, do the others see it?

Yes. A name written in any copy appears in every copy opened with your two keys, on any device. What travels between them is a sealed blob encrypted on your device with a key made from your two words, so we can read neither the names nor the keys; we hold a parcel we cannot open. With no internet the page still works from the copy on that device and rejoins the others when the connection returns. There is also a “Copy record text” button on the page: it packs the record into a block of text you can send or keep yourself, with no help from us. Fair warning that the block is encoded, not encrypted, so anyone you hand it to can read the names in it. And the page still prints, for the family that wants the record in its own hand.

How do the chapter recordings reach us?

Two ways, and you get both. Inside your book each chapter has a Listen button, so a page can be heard as it is read. And the whole set comes as a folder you download and keep, so the story travels into a car, onto a plane, and anywhere the signal gives out. The psalm recordings live inside the keepsake file itself; the chapter recordings are far too large for that, about three hours of them, so they come as their own folder to sit beside it. The folder is around 85 MB, so it is worth pulling down on wifi before a journey rather than on mobile data.

Which Bible text is used?

The scripture is adapted from the World English Bible, a public domain translation, in your choice of two editions: the Sacred Name Edition with the Names restored (Yahuah, Elohiym, Yahusha), or the Traditional Edition with the renderings most English Bibles use (the LORD, God, Jesus). You choose while writing your family in, and the psalm recitations match your choice.

Does this replace reading the Bible?

No, and it would be a poor book if it did. It carries 2,057 verses of scripture from 40 of the Bible’s 66 books, roughly one verse in fifteen, each printed in full where the chapter reaches it. There is no Job here, no Ruth, no Jonah, and 145 of the psalms are still waiting for you. What your family gets is the thread: what was made, what broke, what was promised, and where it is all going, running from the garden to the city. The book says so itself, in the epilogue every copy carries: this book is a gateway, not a destination, and the verses gathered here are a handful of water drawn from a great river. Read this one to the end and the Bible on the shelf is no longer a stranger. It is a book your family has already been inside.

My family does not look traditional. Can our story still be written?

Yes, and it belongs here as much as any. Whoever is raising the children writes the dedication, whether that is a mother or father, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, a guardian, or a foster or adoptive parent, and signs it with the name the children call them. The afterword tells how your family came together, by birth or by welcome, and a family gathered by welcome can be told in the book’s own language of being chosen and grafted in. No family is too unusual for this story; every one is written in with the same honor.

Why do you let me choose what to give, and what if I cannot give anything?

Because a fixed amount at the door decides which tables this book reaches, and we would rather it reached all of them. Every amount from five dollars up receives the same complete book, and no amount on the slider is the wrong one. If even that is out of reach for your family this month, take it home instead: leave an email, and the same book comes to you with nothing held back and nothing owed. You do not have to explain your year to anyone or qualify for it. Families who give generously are the reason that door is there, and they gave knowing exactly what it was for.

Refunds?

The book is made to your family and delivered in minutes, so all sales are final once your book is generated, whatever amount you chose. If something is wrong with it, write to us and we will make it right.
